Troubleshooting.

The faults we see most often, and what to check before raising a request. If none of this helps, tell us what you tried — knowing what has been ruled out is genuinely useful.

Camera

Capture problems.

Most camera faults are the device binding or the cable, in that order.

The camera will not open, or the wrong device opens

Measuret resolves the camera through its DirectShow device identity. If the camera has been replaced, moved to a different USB port, or another imaging application has claimed it, the binding may no longer resolve.

Check first that no other application is holding the camera — only one can own it at a time. Then close Measuret, reconnect the camera, and start again. If it still does not open, the camera authorisation may need reissuing for that device.

The live image is upside-down or mirrored

This is an orientation setting on the camera rather than a measurement fault. Use the camera's own property page from Camera → Settings to correct it.

It is worth correcting rather than working around: an operator measuring on a mirrored image will eventually report a left-hand feature as a right-hand one.

The preview is laggy, or freezes

Check the USB connection first — a marginal cable or a shared hub is the usual cause, and both produce exactly this symptom. Try the camera on a different port, directly rather than through a hub.

If the preview stops after the camera was unplugged and reconnected, stop and restart capture to re-establish the connection.

Licence

Licence rejected.

A licence is tied to a product and a machine. Both have to match.

The licence is refused on startup

The usual causes are that the licence was issued for a different machine, has expired, or was issued for a different Multitek product. The licence lives in the Binding folder of MT.Service.Packs beside the executable.

Contact us with the machine and your organisation. Do not email the licence file.

It worked before the machine was rebuilt

Licences are bound to hardware. A rebuild, a motherboard change or a disk replacement can invalidate the binding, and the licence will need reissuing.

Keeping a copy of the MT.Service.Packs folder before a rebuild saves the pattern workbooks, letterhead and database even when the licence itself has to be replaced.

Measurement

The numbers look wrong.

Almost always calibration, and almost always for one of four reasons.

Every measurement is out by the same percentage

A consistent proportional error is the signature of a wrong scale factor. Check that the calibration selected matches the objective actually in use, and that the part is sitting at the same height as the artefact you calibrated with. A part on a fixture is imaged at a different magnification than one on the stage.

What mm per pixel really means.

Horizontal measurements agree but vertical ones do not

Classic anisotropy: X and Y do not scale equally, and only X was calibrated. Measure a known round feature horizontally and vertically in pixels — if the two spans differ, so should your two scale factors.

Why non-square pixels break naive measurement.

Two operators get different answers on the same image

Usually a different tool rather than a different click. Point-to-point, horizontal and perpendicular distance answer different questions and give different numbers on a part that is even slightly rotated.

Write the intended convention into the pattern row description so it is recorded rather than remembered. More on this.

Readings vary run to run on the same feature

Look at the edge, not the software. A defocused or poorly lit edge spreads across several pixels and the operator has to guess where within that band the edge is. Backlighting a silhouette gives an edge everybody agrees on; front lighting a shiny machined face does not.

Reports

Report and export.

Reports are written beside the application and opened straight away.

The report will not write

Most often the previous report is still open in Excel and the file is locked. Measuret adds a numbered suffix rather than failing, but closing the earlier report keeps the folder tidy.

Also check that the account running Measuret can write to the folder beside the executable.

The overlay labels look wrong in the report

The report overlay is composed at the source image's resolution and scaled to match what you saw on screen. If labels look too large or too small, check the text size in the Display group and regenerate — the settings dialog stays open so you can adjust and export again without re-measuring.

Rows are missing from the report

If you are using a pattern, rows that were never measured are only printed when Unmeasured pattern rows is switched on in Report Settings. For anything going to a customer or an auditor, leaving it on is usually the right choice.

Exporting a report cleared my measurements

It does not — producing a report never changes or clears anything on the image. If measurements have disappeared, Clear Measurements is the likely cause, and it can be undone.
